the village through the ages
" My children and I decided to spend a day in Saintes Maries de la Mer, and before heading into the old town, we visited the village museum.
The receptionists were adorable, they gave us a map and showed us around! The space is modern and colorful, the ground floor is dedicated to underwater archaeology: numerous objects found near the coasts of Saintes Maries are on display. We found out with enthusiasm that there are about 50 wrecks in front of the village.
My children particularly enjoyed the model boats, bronzes and interactive maps.
The first floor emphasize in the history of the Camargue and its cultural heritage. And before we bought some souvenirs at the museum boutique! Knowing and deepening the history of the village has made us love this little corner of paradise even more! "
